Australia may still be finding its feet when it comes to international recognition in the current fashion realm (Josh Goot, Dion Lee & Ellery et al are only just getting the attention they deserve), but we have no shortage of iconic designers who absolutely killed it in the 70s/80s/90s with the likes of Jenny Bannister, Jenny Kee - and from my home turf - Liz Davenport, who has been designing for more years than I've been alive, champions a list of causes as long as my arm (including the many merits of wool as a fashion fibre, viva Australian Merino!) and kept all her clothing statements in her incredible studio archive. Guess who's been running around this archive pulling looks for the show at Liz's book launch Monday night? You betcha - yours truly & the fabulous Emma Bergmeier have styled up a storm so if you're interested in learning about an historic Australian fashion voice get yourself down to the state library for this free & open-to-the-public event.
