This cheeky bugger is my favourite - if money were no object I would've liked to have rehomed him with a friend who has a similar attitude.

Whilst in Sydney over Christmas I had the opportunity to view an exhibition of pottery from the Ardmore studio, a collective of South African artists founded by Fee Halsted in the mid 1980s. As my father grew up in South Africa and his mother, my Granny, was a sculptor I have always had an affinity for the unique vibrancy of African art - and Ardmore has it in spades. With bold patterning, intricate craftsmanship and an obvious understanding of the complexities of the animal kingdom the Ardmore style really is a joy to behold, and even more so knowing that the work of the studio supports and benefits the communities of the artists.

Ardmore is represented in Australia by Peter Pinson Gallery (who are, I believe, currently restructuring but am sure will take enquiries) and you can read more about the history of the style, founders & artists here.

They are beautiful pieces :) I really like the leopard vase, the third last photo.

And of course the last photo made me giggle!
