restyle 2: polkadots

I've never been one for the races but I DO love a ladylike frock & hat combo! This handmade polkadot number is from Retro Vinnies and in my opinion an absolute steal at $60 compared to what I'd normally spend on something of this quality - the fabric has a nice weight to it and shows no sign of deterioration, the construction is considered and the style suits me, all of which equal wardrobe classic that I will wear for years to come.

When I was younger I used to opshop (& new shop, for that matter) with gay abandon, anything and everything that had a remotely interesting detail came home with me. Now I have less time to alter things (& less desire to look like an 80s-pinup-harajuku-sailor) so on the whole I hunt for timeless pieces in quality fabrics - I find it very hard to walk past polkadots, luckily they never go out of style!

dress - RETRO VINNIES $60
hat/earrings - op shop
clutch - vintage
heels - miu miu

Did you know that Vinnies have two vintage & retro specialist op shops in Perth? One is located on William St in Northbridge and one is on High St in Fremantle. Most donated vintage items are directed here so they're a great destination if you're looking for something specific, but you can still find vintage & retro gems in the regular Vinnies retail centres.

Oh I LOVE this dress! It is so lady like :-) I have a really gorgeous lady like polka dot dress that I bought from Gary Pepper vintage years ago and it is still the best $80 I spent on a dress! There is something about buying a really good piece of vintage/opshop that outweighs buying something new!
