A lot of startup labels launch with good intentions, but don't quite have their shit together. There's a lot to think about - concept, sampling, manufacture, branding, lookbook, packaging, website, online store...not to mention the actual product! When a new brand nails it every step of the way it's time to take notice, because there's someone with serious vision at the helm.
Rebecca Martin is a designer doing things properly, and it's immediately evident in her new label Alpha Cruxis. Every aspect of the brand is polished, considered. The logo is schmick. The lookbook is amazing. The bags? Out of this world. Thick, solid leather moulded and stitched by hand (!) in her studio in Berlin, the Alpha Cruxis 'Geometry' project is a refined progression from Rebecca's leatherwork in her student days at RMIT (which, I can attest, was already pretty advanced) and holds true design value - these are for a reason, not a season. Worth every Euro cent, I've got the Hexagon clutch on order and can't wait to wear it with everything.
